“Raise the Roof” … Fundraiser for Ma Esther’s Children

April 22nd, 2011

MA ESTHER’S HOPE HOME now has 16 beautiful children.  What a great time we had with them at the party!  They entertained us with drama and song.  We had party horns and candy, popcorn and drinks.  They absolutely loved the gifts, letters and photos that many of you sent.  It takes so little to warm the heart of a child!  So little!

GERTRUDE shows off her letter & photos!                  Eletha proudly holds her gift bag!

Ma Esther with all 16 children                       Everyone looks at their photos on the 2011 calendar

In February Ma Esther took us to see the land we are purchasing to begin the building of a new house for her and these precious children.  Right now they are overcrowed in a very small 3 room house.  Everyone sleeps in a row on the floor.

Coming up on May 6th in Mitchell, Manitoba there is a Fundraiser Dinner called “Raise the Roof”   Gr. 3 teacher Elaine Peters, and other Provision of Hope supporters  are hoping to raise the funds needed for this project.  The building site is in a quiet community near a good school.   We are buying several lots so we can  grow crops and do some gardening to help sustain these children.  If you are interested to help with this project click here http://www.provisionofhope.com/donate.htm   We are seeing so much growth and development in these children.  Ma Esther you are a wonderful mother!  If you would like more info on this project or tickets for the fundraiser email karen@provisionofhope.com   Cost is 10.00    It will be a fun time!!

Bringing HOPE to the “Least of These”

December 1st, 2010

My Prayer this Christmas is that we can bring HOPE to our Orphans, Widows and Refugees.

Some of you have asked what you could give this Christmas that would make a difference to someone in need. Perhaps your family is looking for a Christmas project that you could do instead of the hustle and bustle of trying to find, “just the right gift” in a world where we have so much. I decided I would write a letter to everyone who has a heart for our ORPHANS, WIDOWS and REFUGEES. Each one has their own personal story of how they survived through Liberia’s 14 yrs. of civil wars. Today there is peace, but the country still faces Extreme Poverty.

I will do whatever I can to PROVIDE FOR THESE HOPELESS ONES! Especially the SUFFERING CHILDREN and ELDERLY WIDOWS.

Perhaps one of these ideas is for you……

BUY OUR ORPHAN CHILDREN CLOTHES FOR CHRISTMAS

Theresa Quanah lives at Ma Esther’s Hope Home. All the children here could use a new set of clothes. This home has 16 children.____ 50.00 to buy new clothes for a child

____ 15.00 to buy a new pair of shoes

____ 25.00 for malaria treatment – often fatal

____ 100.00 School Fees for one semester

____ 100.00 Buy chicken dinner for a Hope Home Family

PUT A STUDENT TO SCHOOL

Pricilla Wolo is in grade 8. She is one of 150 children and youth we put to school this fall. First semester is paid. In January we are facing second semester when all school fees are due.____ 100.00 will pay for second semester, and school supplies

____ 15.00 to buy a new uniform for a child

____ 20.00 for good leather school shoes

BUY FOOD FOR THE MALNOURISHED

This is Maybe Mulbah and her malnourished son Silas. Provision of Hope has taken him to hospital to get the necessary treatment. We also have him on a vitamen program. Maybe is only one of many of our Single Mothers
on the Buduburam Refugee Camp who need help to provide for their families.____ 50.00 will buy a bag of rice

_____ 75.00 will buy the whole family some clothes

_____ 75.00 will buy a mattress

_____ 25.00 will buy warm blankets

_____ 50.00 will take care of minor medical needs

PROVIDE MONEY FOR A MICRO LOAN

Marthaline Summerville is one of our Single Mothers who received a Micro Loan of 200.00 to sell used clothing, at the Refugee Camp. Today she provides for her family and is doing well in business._____ 200.00 – 300.00 will provide a micro loan for one of our single mothers We have over 60 Single Mothers at the camp, many who are very poor. Micro Loans really help!

DONATE FOR OUR WIDOWS

Our widows receive rice at 3 different locations. Each Saturday when they gather, they have a time of sharing and worship._____ 35.00 to buy a bag of rice

_____ 75.00 to buy a new mattress

_____ A Donation for oil, salt and soap because it’s Christmas!

HELP TO SAVE A LIFE

Samuel Hinneh almost died, but thank God he was given funds, for his appendix that burst so he pulled through and lived._____ Donation towards the many who suffer needing treatment

_____ Help towards surgeries for those who have no funds

_____ Help a patient in the hospital to be released. They stay until the bill is paid.

HELP A REFUGEE BACK HOME TO LIBERIA

Lydia Flomo is a 22 yr. old refugee girl who is wanting to go home to Liberia. She was brought to the camp at age 9. She longs to go home to see her mother. She knows her grandmother lives in Monrovia, and can help her to find her mother. Lydia sells firewood all day long, just to eat.It would be most outstanding if she could go home in time for Christmas!

____ 250.00 would transport her back home

SAVE EXODUS FROM GOING BLIND

Exodus Smith is one of our Gr. 11 students. Recently he has developed a serious eye problem. We sent him to an eye clinic where they told us he has growths developing over his pupils and will need them removed or he will go blind! They recommended that we fly him to Ghana for this surgery, otherwise he will lose his eye sight. If you would like to donate towards this need, we would greatly appreciate it. The flight is covered, but no money yet for his surgery.

You can donate NOW by credit card if you wish by phoning…

Walk a Mile in My Shoes

June 16th, 2010

“WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES”  was a great success!   Thank you to everyone for your generous contributions and support in this event.  Steinbach, Manitoba I love your community spirit, and compassionate heart to reach out to others in need.   All donations will go towards the education of orphan and disadvantaged children and youth, in Liberia, West Africa.       For many in this nation going to school is only a dream.  We will put as many students to school as possible again this year.  We had approx. 70 walkers and raised over 12,500.  We are leaving this open if anyone still wishes to donate towards School for Orphans  you still have time.

Owen and Colton have just sponsored two refugee boys to school in the Buduburam Refugee Camp in Ghana.  Their mothers fled from Liberia in the midst of the war.
