Helping Poor Children go to School

Our staff in Liberia have been very busy registering children to school this week!  School is about to open!!

Every year we have more poor children who are hoping to attend school. We help as many as we possibly can.  First we do an evaluation to see what their home situation is like and how we can perhaps empower the mother to help some too.

This is the story of Darius and his younger sister Dehyeatee.  Their mother is a widow.  Their father was killed in 2020 by unknown people.  Since then their mama has struggled to make a living by selling coal.  Grandma helps to take care of the children when mama is in the bush finding her materials for charcoal.  Life is hard.  School is out of the question for sure. Ottis Dyega, one of our children’s home dads brought in this request.  He is a close friend of this family.

Tuition for one semester is $ 100 US per child plus “black”shoes $ 15, pens and copy books $ 5, School uniform $ 15, PE outfit $ 15, and a book bag $ 10.  Total 160 US.  This is a lower cost tuition than some of our other schools. We have close to 100 children we will register for school this coming year. If you would be interested in giving towards EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN, it would be a huge blessing!

We know the value of a good education. Every child should be able to read and write.  Education is a must in order to see a country progress and alleviate poverty.  Provision of Hope chooses private schools over government run schools.  The standard of education in our private schools is much higher. Of course they cost more too.

Darius would be in Grade 2. Dehyeatee would be in Preschool. Darius would be in Grade 2. Dehyeatee would be in Preschool.

Outreach to Bomi County

Daniel Coleman, our Director of Mercy Ministry, recently made a return visit to his birthplace in Bomi County, a place he cherishes and visits whenever he can. On each trip, he personally delivers used clothing, slippers, and rice to the community. They know him by name and are always happy when he visits. In the recent visit, Provision of Hope supported Daniel’s efforts with a small contribution, helping provide flip-flops and used clothing. He’s also brought some treats, such as popcorn,
