From the Refugee Camp to a University Graduate!

CONGRATULATIONS, FELECIA J. DAPAE, on your fantastic achievement!
You are now a graduate of Williams VS Tubman University, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology! Your dream of becoming a medical doctor has always been within reach, and we have every confidence in your academic ability to accomplish this goal. You know how to work hard and stay focused. Your parents have instilled in you the resilience needed to overcome life’s greatest challenges.

Provision of Hope loves to see our girls become educated. We do everything in our power to help them achieve their goals because we believe this is how nations are changed and poverty is eradicated.

Everyone got matching t-shirts to congratulate Felecia on her graduation!

Felecia, you have a truly remarkable story! Your dad shared with us how your family narrowly escaped the 2003 civil war while fleeing Liberia. Here is a portion of that incredible journey. It was nothing short of a miracle!

Felecia, you were just a little girl when we first met you in the refugee camp. Provision of Hope has been supporting your mom and dad ever since that time. We were impressed with their ability to provide for your family through the frying of donuts and selling them. They would start their day as early as 4:30 am! Your dad had some medical issues, and we were grateful to be able to help with his care, as well as assist in resettling your family back home to Liberia.

DAPAE AND RITA have a very touching story of how they escaped from Liberia in 2003 during the last civil war.

Dapae was severely beaten by the rebel army and taken hostage while working for the UN as a security officer. He was left in a car and somehow managed to escape! By God’s grace, he was able to find his wife, Rita, and their little girl, Felecia, as they fled the country to seek asylum in Ghana. It is truly a miracle that Dapae survived, as so many others who were trying to flee were not as fortunate.

We look at all God has provided for your family and we stand in awe of the kindness of others to help.

In 2008, Frank Doiron met with Karen Barkman to ask how he could get involved in the work they were doing in Africa. That was the day God inspired Frank to assist Dapae and Rita in the Buduburam Refugee Camp where they were living since 2003. This was the exact time they were hoping to resettle back to Liberia.

LIBERIA NEEDS BIBLES

Nothing brings me more joy than giving out Bibles! I know what the Word of God does for me, and I want others to experience the same God encounters that I have experienced while reading my Bible. “The Bible is my source of strength. It is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105 It gives me hope and comfort. I get to know God, His character, and His Ways. The Word of Godis alive.
