Let’s Remember Our Widows This Christmas

This year with the support of our generous donors, we provided gardening packages to six widows, including tools, seeds, and protective gear, empowering them to boost their livelihoods and nutrition. Rainboots and lapas were gifted during Easter, bringing joy to many. Thanks to your support we were also able to distribute medicines in June 2024, bringing relief to widows who cannot afford even basic over-the-counter drugs. On October 5th, we celebrated World Old Folks Day with over 305 participants and helped Widow Jenneh and her family in their time of need. Additionally, through Wordsower International, we opened two new widow groups at Otis Dyega’s church in Buchanan and Leona Lamah’s church in Johnsonville, expanding our reach to serve more widows. What a year it has been, God is Good!

We continue to support the five groups with rice, oil, and soup seasonings each month. The Matadi group has grown to 168 registered widows, the Johnsonville group has 76, Soul Clinic 66, Buchanan 39, and Maryland 109.

Ideas to Help a Widow This Christmas and new year

Medicines – As part of our commitment to promoting the health and well-being of our community, we are always delighted when we have the funds to distribute essential medicines to our registered widows. This initiative is crucial for those who lack access to basic over-the-counter medications. We aim to resume providing these much-needed medicines early in the New Year.

Extra Rice – We plan to give out extra rice to each of our 5 Widow Gatherings this Christmas. This would be a special blessing for our 458 registered members.

Many of our widows are without family support, and there are always new widows asking to join. In Liberia, there are no pension plans or government assistance for the elderly, leaving them struggling without basic needs. Simple things like pain relievers for arthritis, such as Tylenol, are often not affordable. Your continued support can make a world of difference in their lives, providing the care and resources they desperately need. Thank you again for your constant assistance and prayers!

LIBERIA NEEDS BIBLES

Nothing brings me more joy than giving out Bibles! I know what the Word of God does for me, and I want others to experience the same God encounters that I have experienced while reading my Bible. “The Bible is my source of strength. It is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105 It gives me hope and comfort. I get to know God, His character, and His Ways. The Word of Godis alive.
