Henry and Samuel: Hard Work That Inspires!

Provision of Hope loves to honor our students who work hard to achieve high marks in school. This encourages all the children in our homes to stay focused and continue working hard.

This year, our Mother Karen Academic Excellence Awards go to Henry Forkpa and Samuel Kennedy, both from Ma Esther’s Home. Henry achieved an overall average of 89.9%, making him top of his class for the 4th year in a row. Samuel was close behind with an overall average of 86.4%. Both students were promoted to Grade 12.

Provision of Hope gifted them with new suits, and they were absolutely delighted. This was a first for them to receive such smart clothing. These suits will be useful for times when they are presenting on public stages.

Let me highlight both these young leaders who are already making a huge impact with the youth of Liberia and in their home.

Henry Forkpa is the Founder and Leader of a youth group that he started on September 5, 2021, called Transforming Youth for Christ Movement. Transforming Youth for Christ Movement (TYCM) is an indigenous, non-governmental, non-profit, and non-denominational organization committed to transforming, equipping, discipling, and enlightening the minds of young people through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

Vision Statement: Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we seek to transform, equip, disciple, and enlighten the minds of young people- cultivating a generation rooted in faith, overflowing with love, and shining as a living reflection of Christ’s Love to the world.

Mission Statement: To reach and engage young people, raising passionate disciples who embody the transforming power of Christ. Equipping them to impact their communities with faith, love, and truth.

The four components of the ministry are to transform, equip, disciple, and enlighten. Activities include outreach and Evangelism, discipleship training, worship and prayer meetings, leadership training, and campus crusade.

Henry is always attending Leadership Conferences such as the Federation of Global Diplomacy Conference. This is where he learns how to be an excellent leader.

Samuel Kennedy won the BEST COACH award in “recognition of your strategic brilliance, mentorship, and outstanding leadership that inspired excellence and teamwork throughout the Unity through Football Tournament” on July 26, 2025. This is a noteworthy award!

Samuel has been coaching a local soccer team for many years. His team is called Power from God. In 2022, we gifted his team with new soccer jerseys.

Both Henry and Samuel are involved in garden projects and assist John Kucuyoiyoigee with work on our farm and around their home. John is our Director of Organic Agriculture, and they are being taught by the best.

Provision of Hope takes great pride in the Youth Leaders that the parents in our homes are raising. They are being taught how to demonstrate good character, honesty, and kindness to others. They are being mentored well by our parents, who are the best role models.

The quote, attributed to the legendary footballer Pelé, states, “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do”. This quote highlights that success is a result of dedicated effort and passion, not just chance.

John Kucuyoiyoigee, our “dad” at Ma Esther’s Home, is a good example of hard work and determination. He came from extreme poverty and has overcome great challenges. Since Grade 5, he has worked tirelessly to put himself through school and university to achieve a Bachelor of Arts in Education. John says, “With hard work and focus, it can be done!”. Of course, he would add, “with God’s help”.
