This month Daniel Coleman took another load of supplies to the Temas Orphanage in Bomi County. They are desperately in need of bed sheets, pillows, mosquito nets, and new mattresses. We hope to return shortly with more of these essentials.
This time, Daniel went with 6 rice bags, 3 cartons of copy books, 15 book bags, pens, and pencils.
Of course, “ Uncle Daniel” brought candy for the kids as he always does. He gets mobbed by the children and loves it.
The orphanage has a total of 36 children ranging in age from 2 to 17. This is home to 17 boys and 19 girls. The administration of the home and school work as volunteers for the sake of the children. They are loving and compassionate. Recently, they worked together to fix the leaks on the roof.
They run a small K–6 school on the grounds, giving the younger children a safe and nurturing place to learn. The older students continue their studies at Gertrude Yancy High School, a government school about a 45-minute walk away.
Mary’s Meals is a tremendous help, providing food for the children, but they often run low on supplies.
Here are their ongoing needs:
Rice: $15 USD per bag
Bed sheets: $10 USD per set
Pillows: $5 USD each
Mosquito nets: $5 USD each
Single bed mattresses: $85 USD each
These well-worn mattresses show how much new ones are needed
Each contribution, no matter the amount, makes a meaningful difference. They are deeply grateful for any support we can give.
