It’s that time of the year! We have an incredible team heading to Liberia tomorrow, and there are some exciting things planned.
Here’s the team for this year:
Bishop Samuel Mwangi
Samuel Mwangi will be joining us from Kenya, where he is the International Director of Destiny Centre with a focus on empowering leaders and transforming nations.
Samuel now oversees, trains, and mentors Sub-center supervisors and participants across Kenya, Rwanda, DR Congo, and Zambia.
The leadership team, deeply rooted in Bethel Church’s Kingdom culture, passionately pursues revival, witnessing regular miracles including healing and even resurrections. Their hunger for God is infectious.
Destiny Centre also combats poverty by equipping people with vital business skills, empowering them to thrive. Hundreds of participants annually leave the program transformed and empowered by God’s power.
Samuel will be launching THE SCHOOL OF THE SUPERNATURAL in Liberia on January 24th. They are hosting a conference January 22-24 for PASTORS AND LEADERS with open sessions in the evening.
Samuel came to Liberia in 2011 with Karen, and ever since, he has carried a deep passion in his heart to return. This is God’s Time!
John Duwana is a native of Liberia whose life journey is a testimony of faith, resilience, and divine purpose.
During Liberia’s civil crisis, he fled to Ghana, where he spent seven and a half years as a refugee. While in Ghana, he completed high school, earned a Diploma in Theology from Faith and Fire Bible School, and briefly attended Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
In 2004, through the support of a church, John was resettled in Brooks, Alberta, Canada. He began his new life working various jobs while pursuing further education, eventually earning a Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Calgary in 2010. After 17 years of professional nursing practice in Canada, John now serves as the CEO of two companies: Nurse On Call Staffing Agency and Space For Us Homes Ltd.
A devoted follower of Christ, John is a public speaker and musician who uses real-life experiences to minister to the many people God brings into his path. He continues to make himself available for God-appointed missions both within and beyond Canada, firmly believing that his life story is a reality only through the divine power of God. John is David and Karen Barkman’s Liberian son. They met in person in Brooks in 2004!
Mae Clowe lives in Kelowna, BC. She is passionate to see people set free from anything that keeps them from encountering, experiencing, and walking in the destiny that God has designed for them.
Mae attended the School of the Supernatural Ministry in Kelowna for three years. She felt called to leave her secular job to do this. This was a life-changing experience for Mae. Let me just say, her joy is contagious!
Mae also serves on the YWAM Kelowna team! Karen says, “I’m so blessed to have her come to Liberia with me!!” Mae is born for missions and has already traveled to Liberia with Karen in 2020 and 2023.
Karen Barkman is feeling really privileged to be coming to Liberia with this powerful team. She says, “It’s going to be one amazing time, God is up to something good.”
Karen has been serving in Liberia for 22 years and is truly a mother to this nation. Her vision and passion for the work just keep growing. As she says, “I love Jesus, and I love the people.”
The team is looking forward to their time in Liberia in the coming weeks and to witnessing God at work through the people and the ministry!
