Provision of Hope always delights in celebrating our widows!! They are all precious jewels. No wonder God says He is the Defender of Widows! He calls true religion caring for orphans and widows.
This year we celebrated International Day for Older Persons on Saturday, October 3rd with 185 attendees, including registered members and community guests. The venue was at the New Matadi widow’s center where they meet every month. They celebrated through a march, prayers, reflections, fellowship, and the distribution of rice packages.
Of course, the Moringa smoothies with fresh fruit was a huge hit again!! So much excitement and enthusiasm filled the air!

Celebrating with our widows
185 women came to celebrate!
The theme this year was “ The Age of Longevity: Rethinking Systems for Longer Lives”. The theme highlights the importance of enabling people to age with health, security, dignity, and continued participation in society.
They also observed a moment of silence in honor of our fallen heroes, Pastor Aaron G. Paul and Elder and Deacon Marcus Momolu, in recognition of their contribution and service to our widows. It was Pastor Paul who first began our widow ministry so many years ago.

For us at Provision of Hope, this occasion is especially meaningful because it gives us another opportunity to honor and celebrate the elderly and aging members of our community, particularly those we serve through our widows and elderly program.
The program consisted of a march and an indoor session. “During the gathering, we offered prayers and sang to celebrate the birthday of our beloved Executive Director, Mother Karen Barkman”, says Daniel Coleman, our Country Director. They also shared reflections and offered prayers for the nation of Liberia and Provision of Hope.
On my birthday, Sunday, October 4th, Daniel Coleman threw a big party at our new office grounds in Mt. Barclay. We had a half-hour video call where they sang happy birthday and gave me so many precious birthday greetings. Yes, I sure felt the love from everyone. It was a day to remember for sure! I share the same birthday as Daniel’s daughter Danielle, who just turned 10. They had special food, candy, and played yard games.
Everyone was ready to have some fun!

What a great time for them and a real honor for me. Thank you, Daniel Coleman!
