A Remarkable Story!

What a beautiful story how God saved the life of an extremely malnourished baby who was about to die!

I will name this baby Miracle ( not his real name).  Miracle was brought to Hope for the Nations by his birth dad, Pa Harry. He was extremely malnourished.  He looks like a skeleton on the photo I have of him. Pa Harry was desperate to find help! He was afraid his little boy would die. He heard of the Recovery Center in Ganta and how they nursed sickly babies back to health. Perhaps they could help his son. At least he would try. Miracle’s birth mom had died soon after giving birth.  This single dad was left with 6 children.  He had little money.  Maryann at Hope for the Nations was the one who first met Miracle.   At first Maryann was not sure she should take him.  What if he dies? In Liberia there is a superstition that if you touch a baby like this a curse could come on you and you could die.  Or if you care for a sickly baby like this one and he dies in your care, the spirit of the late mother could come to kill you.  Troubled at her thoughts, Maryann went inside to pray.  She heard a loud voice say ” Take him! Take him!  She knew this was the voice of God.

Six months later Maryann knew this child would live!  From the Recovery Center Miracle went to a Hope Foster home, where he was loved and cared for.  Later he was adopted through Plan Loving Adoptions Now.  All this took place close to 16 yrs ago.  Today Miracle is 18 years old.  He was adopted into a beautiful Christian Home in the US!

Listen to the rest of this amazing story!!  Read on to See how this birth father gets a photo of his adopted son!

Several months ago, Provision of Hope got a donation from a donor we did not recognize.  I called the Hope office to see if they had an email address to this donor.  They did! This is when I found out that this donor was the sister of the home that adopted Miracle!  Oh my goodness!! This was my introduction to Miracle! I asked so many questions. Does he want us to see if his dad is still alive and if we can find his sisters?  “Yes go ahead!”

This all came at a time when Hope for the Nations staff were praying that somehow this birth dad could locate his son.  Pa Harry would visit Hope for the Nations in Ganta asking about his son.

This was a very easy find!  Hope for the Nations had Pa Harry’s phone number because of his visits.  Daniel Coleman made contact and next he went for a visit.   He reported the poverty Pa Harry was facing.  They had little food. Pa Harry needed medication. Cecelia, his married daughter took care of Pa Harry. She spent all her business money to help her dad with his medical needs.  They all slept in one small room, with 3 children.  The next day Daniel came with food and THE PHOTO OF MIRACLE, who is now 18 and in Gr. 12. He is a smart student and works with people in assisted living. Apparently he is a great dancer too! Haha!

Have a look at Pa Harry’s face when he sees his son’s photo!!!  I FELT MY HEART OVERFLOW WITH SO MUCH JOY WHEN I SAW THESE PHOTOS!!!  Pa Harry was so happy to know that his son was doing well!  Daniel went back the next day to rent a room that just happened to be available near Cecelia’s home.  It was perfect for Pa Harry. One room for only $ 180 US for the whole year!!  We knew next we would buy him a bed, bedding and flooring.  Now we have become friends with this family.  We are believing we will soon have funding for Cecelia to build her business again.

Pa Harry is so excited to see the photo of his son! Look at his smile!! Pa Harry is so excited to see the photo of his son! Look at his smile!!
Provision of Hope came with a large food package for Pa Harry and Cecelia's family. Provision of Hope came with a large food package for Pa Harry and Cecelia’s family.
When Daniel came back the next day, Pa Harry had made a beautiful wood frame for his photo. He wanted to be sure it would stay clean and safe. He absolutely treasures this photo. I'm sure he shows everyone who comes to his place. When Daniel came back the next day, Pa Harry had made a beautiful wood frame for his photo. He wanted to be sure it would stay clean and safe. Pa Harry is so happy to have his own place. He did his own white washing and fixing up the zinc. This shows his ambition. He has a job as night security. The pay is very poor but he does what he can to provide income. He eats at his daughter's house. Pa Harry is so happy to have his own place. He did his own white washing and fixing up the zinc. This is a photo of Maryann who planted a flowering shrub in memory of Miracle and how God saved his life. This is the very spot where she took him in her arms and said she would take care of him. Maryann goes out to various villages to teach mothers about nutrition and how to keep their families healthy. We keep finding birth parents for children who have been adopted.  I love seeing the joy this brings to these Liberian parents!

It is your donations that make all this possible!!  Thank you so much!!
