Widow loses all in fire!

What a tragic night for Widow Fannie and her 8 children!!  They lost it all in the fire!!

“Fire!!! Fire!!!” were the screams that woke up Fannie Joway and her 8 children last week!  It was very late!  Someone had been burning garbage just outside their house.  He went to bed probably thinking the fire was under control, but unfortunately their house caught fire, along with others in this little slum community. Fannie is a widow. Her husband died several years ago leaving her to manage with the children.  It’s been a struggle for sure but everyday Fannie would go around selling her coconuts to try to provide their daily food.

Praise God, Fannie and her children managed to get out of the house before it burned to the ground.  It’s sad that they lost their home and all their possessions. Fannie is staying with a friend along with a few of her children.  Others are displaced elsewhere until she can figure out what to do.

Fannie’s son Thomas is on our scholarship program.  He is in Gr. 5 this year and doing well in school.  He is a brilliant student, focused on learning. He will need a new uniform, book bag and black shoes. His tuition for the year is taken care of by his sponsor.

Today Provision of Hope brought them a food package. Thank you Bernice Williams for taking care of this delivery.

We are hoping to help Fannie to find a new place to live. They will need mattresses, blankets, cooking utensils and all the basics to start over again. She does have friends who have been helping with clothes for her and the children. Hopefully their church will help too.  Please keep this family in your prayers!

Life was a struggle before the fire. Now they are feeling so hopeless. We said, " Do not lose hope, we will help with something!" Others in the community are doing their best with the little they have to offer too. Life was a struggle before the fire. Now they are feeling so hopeless. Today we were able to help them with a couple of bags of rice, oil and box of vita cubes. We encouraged them to not give up. Today we were able to help them with a couple of bags of rice, oil and box of vita cubes. We encouraged them to not give up.

Please pray for this family. We are trusting God to provide what they need.
