Provision of Hope keeps right on EMPOWERING GIRLS in Liberia!
In a land where jobs are scarce and many struggle to meet their daily needs, we are finding that empowering young women in Liberia is working! Read the story of Jacqueline who is “living her dream!” We are all so happy for her!
Jacqueline was just a little girl when she came to live with Dapae and Rita in their Children’s Home. Try as she would, Jacqueline did not do well in school. As she entered her teens Dapae and Rita felt that she should visit her relatives in the remote village where she came from. It turns out she stayed there. Dapae would check in on her at times to see that she was doing okay. While at Dapae and Rita’s home they discovered that Jacqueline was very talented at sewing. In her remote village she worked for a tailor. She received very little pay for her work but she learned so much.
Just last week Jacqueline came back for a visit at the request of Rita and Dapae. She was told that Provision of Hope planned to buy her a new Singer Sewing Machine to take back with her to her village. Can you imagine her screams of delight on the phone?!!! She was over the moon with excitement. ” Is this really happening for me?!!!” she wondered.
Dapae took her shopping and together they purchased her new machine. No longer would she work for the village tailor. She could start her own shop now. WHAT A DRAMATIC CHANGE FOR JACQUELINE! Today she is 19, settled in her village and loving her community. In fact she could hardly wait to return. Take a look at her happy face on the photos!

Jacqueline picked out her own pieces of cloth along with many threads of different colors. Wow!
The girls were so amazed to see Jacqueline sew! She made a dress for Linda during her visit. The girl who had difficulty learning was now a star in their eyes! God creates everyone with their own unique abilities. Some shine in academic skills others excel in trades.

Dapae and Rita are the parents of 14 children. They provide a healthy, caring home with Christian values.

We plan to continue empowering girls in order to give them a better future.
