Our leaders in the Buduburam Refugee Camp are calling out for help! The Ghana authorities are planning to demolish their houses! “Where will we go? We will be homeless!”
We have a line up of refugees who are desperately trying to go back to Liberia! They are asking “Where will we go when our houses get demolished?” There are uprisings! People are panicking! The demolition was to start on September 30th but they have extended that to the end of November. Everyone is asking, “Where will they go?” They have no money. Everyone is in confusion!
Provision of Hope will try to help as many as we possibly can. They will go by bus.
I have been to this camp. It is deplorable. No human being should be living in these horrific conditions. This is a disease bed!
Police authorities are blaming this camp for housing criminals. This is one of the main reasons they want to see this camp gone. Liberians say this is not true. Who really knows? It’s time for them all to go back home. Liberia will provide a better place than this camp! We have already helped a number to resettle back home.
We have decided to help those who have relatives back home, to help them when they arrive.
Mother Louisa and her children. Their house has been marked as one of the first homes to be demolished. This family has been here a long time. They suffered much, yet they are grateful to God for keeping them alive!
Karen Barkman was appalled by the open sewers next to the houses. People cooked with flies coming from the sewers!! Rats found their home here too.
The Buduburam Camp is a deplorable place! No human being should have to live in these horrific conditions!
We have assisted many refugees in this camp since we first vistied this camp in 2004. We provided food, shelter and medical help.
This is where many Liberians found asylum during the 14 yrs of civil war. Some have been here since 1990. The numbers have really decreased since then. I am told there are about 100 families left. May God help everyone in this camp to relocate! It’s time!
Have a look at this document and video published by cititv newsroom to get a better picture of this camp!

When I see this I am reminded of this verse in Psalms 12:5 MSG
Into the hovels of the poor, Into the dark streets where the homeless groan, God speaks: “I’ve had enough; I’m on my way To heal the ache in the heart of the wretched.”
Please join me in prayer for God to make a way for every family left in this camp.
