On July 4th Monkonjay was boiling hot water when her cell phone fell into the pot! Without thinking she reached into the boiling water to retrieve her phone!!
Her hand was severely burned along with her face. They quickly rushed her to the ELWA hospital where she was admitted. We bought 3 units of blood for her and she got the treatment she needed immediately. Weeks later she got skin grafting. Thank God she can use her fingers again. That was a miracle! Thank you for your prayers!
Today she faces a HUGE HOSPITAL BILL BEFORE THEY WILL RELEASE HER TO GO HOME. This is how it is done in Liberia. You pay your hospital bill “before” you are discharged. Otherwise the hospitals would never get paid. Liberians in general are much too poor to pay. In this case Augustine Howe ( her father) has been out every day asking people to help pay this bill. He says it is very hard to find money. I believe him. This bill is $ 3,620 US. He has collected $ 1,820 US but still needs $ 1,800 to get Monkonjay discharged. Augustine said last night her hospital bed ended and she had to sleep on the floor. They simply need the beds for others who need treatment. Augustine came to Provision of Hope for help. I told him we would try to do something to help.
